Matthew and Jordon Wadeley Keen For African Karting Showpiece
Formidable karting outfit, Wadeley Racing, has made the long and scenic trip to Zwartkops International Kart Raceway for the 2023 RMC African Open, scheduled for this Sunday and it is set to be a fantastic showcase of talent from across the continent, as kart racers from throughout Africa converge on the the Pretoria Circuit.
Senior Max Challenge Awaits Matthew Wadeley
Matthew Wadeley, no stranger to the Zwartkops circuit, will be taking on a formidable field of 21 talented drivers in the Senior Max class. His previous encounter with the circuit during the national final presented unique challenges, primarily due to his height, which made managing the immense levels of grip a bit of a tightrope walk. However, Matthew’s determination shone through as he adapted and improved with each race, showcasing his ability to adapt, a trait he will call on this weekend.
Despite the challenges faced last time at Zwartkops, Matthew displayed his commitment throughout the weekend. His race results throughout the national and regional seasons have been commendable and he’s looking forward to taking on the challenge at the African Open before returning to WPMC regional duty as he battles for top spot in that Championship.
High Hopes for Jordon Wadeley in Junior Max
Junior Max driver Jordon Wadeley is gearing up with confidence for the upcoming challenge. His previous performance at the Zwartkops circuit a month ago showed his determination and exceptional racing skills. Despite a minor mistake during his super pole qualifying, Jordon’s consistently strong performances stood out and fresh off a great run at the recent Western Province Regional event, both he and the team have their sights set on a top performance come Sunday.
Jordon has enjoyed a remarkable debut year in the Junior Max class having secured fourth position in the final RMC SA National standings and currently still in the Regional title fight in the Cape.
Friend and Teammate Levy Along for the Ride
Adding to the excitement of the weekend, the Wadeley Racing team embarked on the journey from Cape Town to Pretoria with their teammate from EMR Kartsport, DD2 driver Reza Levy. Levy is a multiple Champion and will certainly be a contender in the DD2 Class this weekend. Their camaraderie is evident and together they will hope to draw inspiration from one another as the battle commences for African pride and potentially even a shot at a RMC Grand Finals Ticket on Sunday. Official Free practice is on Saturday and then all eyes will be on the crucial qualifying heats leading up to the winner-takes-all final on Sunday afternoon.
